Aido is a smart and interactive family robot. It can play with kids help with household chores and loads of other useful stuff.
It balances on an omnidirectional ball – a ballbot design. This allows him to move around the house. It has object recognition and obstacle avoidance functionality built in.
Aido hosts two battery parts in hot standby mode, that should last about 8 hours on regular usage with 2 hours of mobility. It has a 6 mic array set around a circular base with a dedicated hardware chip for listening to a human voice. Integrated voice control allows to reply back with stored regular communication for commonly used sentences and phrases. For obscure words, Aido uses standard text-to-speech engines.
It has so far raised more than $317 thousands on Indiegogo, from more than 690 backers, with 30 days to go before the campaign ends. Those backing this campaign are promised shipping date of October 2016.
